How Gastric Sleeve Surgery Works
The surgery is laparoscopic in nature by making three to five tiny incisions on the abdomen of the patient. These are used to insert the surgical instruments to complete the procedure. The surgeon will create a small stomach by stapling the larger stomach down to a size that is approximately 80–85% smaller than the original. To guide the stomach cutter/staple, a bougie is used to outline the correct stomach size.
